I've always been a risk taker and throwing myself into the unknown, sometimes its worked, other times it’s been a disaster. Yet I always grow from the adventure. This is the year of change and really moving out of my comfort zone starting with an XC race series called Pedalfest.

The leadership team of GGR: Girlz Gone Riding, was honored to be invited to Specialized in Morgan Hill, CA as guests. This trip was also a team-building trip for our leadership team to kick off 2016.

The Enduro discipline of racing has been in the back of my head for a few years now. When I was out injured and recovering from reconstructive knee surgery a few years ago, I had lots of time to think about my future of riding and where I wanted to take it. One of the things on my list was to try Enduro. A discipline of racing that includes the endurance of cross country with transition stages that are not timed, and the technical skills of down hill riding.

Now, I have been riding for almost 10 years and have never wanted to really race because I grew up in an equestrian sport...

The event planning for me started Monday. The weather forecast was looking very bleak with snow predicted up to 5 inches and roads requiring chains and snow tires. As of about Thursday, after the Amgen tour was cancelled for Friday in Big Bear due to bad weather, I had lost hope and was leaning towards a plan B of riding local with friends. Then the sun came out Friday and seemed to melt everything away. I kept checking road conditions and the weather. Road conditions were good, no snow, but the chill factor was off the charts at mid 30's for Saturday and 50"s for Sunday.
