In 2008 a popular network of undulating singletrack in northern San Diego known as “The Intestines” was closed off and graded over for development of new home sites. A sign was posted at one of the trailheads suggesting that once the homes were built a trail would one day reopen. Mountain bikers gave little thought to the notice, expecting any developer-driven trail would be a sanitized, wide, flat trail commonly found in nearby neighborhoods.

ZOIC has signed on to sponsor the 2nd Annual Reach the Peak Trail Race and Mountain Festival hosted by Outdoor Outreach. ZOIC will be the title sponsor of a new enduro-inspired bike race portion of the event. The entire event serves as a fundraiser for Outdoor Outreach, an organization that empowers and educates at-risk youth in California through outdoor activities. The festival is being held in San Diego Saturday, November 3rd from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hilltop Park and Black Mountain Open Space Park.
