Black Market Shorts + Liner

Great product! Love the stretch fabric - makes for a comfortable long ride. Good amount of pockets and zippers. Another great Zoic product

I have four pairs of these.

I have four pairs of these. Never use any of my other baggy shorts. They are lighter, cooler more comfortable. Love all the pockets. I like the slightly shorter length too. If you're going to be in the saddle for a long time, buy one of their better liners or wear your bib shorts underneath them.

Miss the color selection

My favorite short. many in my riding club agree this was their favorite MTB short. Great comfort and quality. Really miss having other color options. Bring them back or some new lighter colors.

Great Shorts

Have had 2 pairs of these for a couple years. They've held up well. Comfortable liner as well. They do run a bit small. Stretch material is very comfortable.

Black Market Shorts

Functional shorts that are VERY light weight. Don’t care for the Velcro snap, but really like the belt and pockets.

Zoic Black Market Mtn Bike Shorts Review

I really like these shorts. When I decided I needed a second pair of riding shorts, I bought another pair of Zoic shorts (Ether) based on how satisfied I am with these.

My pair is Tan. I think they do a nice job of looking like a pair of real Mtn Bike Shorts while on the trails but still look ordinary enough around town to not seem out of place. The fabric is light, breaths well, dries quickly, I have gone swimming in them and really like how quickly they dried after getting out, this was without the padded liner. The shorts have held up very well, no noticeable wear or damage after countless falls while wearing them on the trails. Considering when I got them, and how many rides Strava shows since then, I have approx 80 rides wearing them.

The included padded liner is nice. It is a mesh that breaths much better than standard Lycra padded shorts. The padding is on the thinner side, but works well enough. The best thing I can say about them, is I don't notice them at all during a ride. I do not clip them to the shorts.

I am 6'1", 180lbs and wear 34" waist. The Large fits me perfectly.

There are two areas that I think need improving. The media pocket, it is too small. I guess a small iPod would fit but certainly not a phone which is what I use for music and tracking my ride. My iPhone 4S would not fit and the larger iPhone 6 I now have certainly does not fit. I put my phone in another pocket which works just fine, but the media pocket seems rather useless. The other think that I would like changed is that it would be much better if the waist closed with a button or snap instead of just Velcro. The included belt keeps them closed but when the zipper is down the Velcro can shift into an odd position. It also requires me to take a moment to carefully line up the Velcro when closing them. All my other pants and shorts dont require any thought, so this is a bit of an annoyance.

Great just as shorts

Got these at my local outdoor sports store - my first ZOIC anything. I got them without the liner, as I prefer my own padding options. These fit well, and the pockets work great. I usually use them with my own liner; the brief style works great with these, as the longer liner hems sometimes catch on the hems of the shorts. They are so lightweight, comfortable, and functional, I also use these shorts for hiking, travel, walking the dog, or social time with the wife. The open legs make them very cool in warm weather.

Could be better.

Nice material.
Velcro snap is evil, it attaches to all your shirt, liner and all other cloth when opened and damages it.
I will never buy anything else with Velcro snap.
Also, these shorts runs small. Buy one size bigger.

Black Market Shorts

Best shorts i own. Use them when I ride and also when I am just kicking around. Great fit comfortable fit, stylish and plenty of pockets for all my stuff. Highly recommend this product.

Black Market Shorts

Bought a pair of tan "Black Market" shorts and use them regularly while mapping bike trails for Open Street Map and my website and longer recreational rides.
All rides done on a hard-tail mountain bike.
My rides can be up to 10 hours on and off bike taking pics, marking waypoints etc. Liner does a good job.

Pockets hold my large Galaxy Note 2, Nikon camera, small notebook, wallet etc as well as a CCW pistol on occasion, all in comfort and securely.
Checked out some others before purchase. Some would not even hold my wallet. I am not a lightweight, they've held up well.
Also detest velcro, my only dislike on black market shorts is velcro at zipper top.

Plan on buying a pair of 2015 ether shorts with ultra liner in near future. Already checked out with my gadgets.

Black Market Shorts

I've only had the Black Market shorts for a few weeks, however, I can say that they are comfortable and fit well. I had tried on some other Zoic shorts prior to purchasing this pair and the front pockets seemed small and were angled straight up which I found uncomfortable. The front pockets on the Black Market shorts are well placed, roomy, and easily accessed. I look forward to putting many more miles in on these shorts!

during a long trip to Africa

Last year, I spent 7 ½ months cycling in sub-Saharan Africa (between Cape Town and Nairobi) and 4½ months in Europe (from Turkey to France). The plan was to cycle one year in Africa and, being a woman - with a lot of experience cycling in conservative countries, having being harassed many times by men and attacked once - I wanted a more casual look than with tight cycling shorts.

I brought 2 pairs of Black Market shorts and used them with well-padded liners (not the Zoic ones) after I replaced the velcro waist attachments with snap buttons. I almost always had the same pair of shorts while cycling and it wore out after 6 months, around 7000 km, a little sewing here and there and replacing a zipper (although the plastic half of 2 zipper pulls broke prematurely and were replaced with cords). It's pretty good considering the intensive use and the conditions we were in (4, 5 or 6 hours in the saddle for 5 days a week, camping in the wild, on farmland and in primary schools). Understandably, the fabric was becoming thinner and a bit fragile.

I liked the quick drying, 4 way stretch ability of the fabric and the practicality of all the pockets. I liked them so much that I had a couple of new pairs sent by parcel post to Tanzania to finish the trip.

We are now back home but I plan using either the Ether Stretch shorts that I have just received (the Duraflex fabric looks very sturdy) or the Black Market shorts for the next trip (probably 2 months in South America). Will do some testing before then.

These shorts have held up really really well over a year and half now. hundreds of miles, falls, dirt, wash them after ever ride. Bullet proof. The liners didn't last nearly as long but that is to be expected. Couldn't be happier with the shorts though. As a diabetic rider I wear an insulin pump and the belt on these allows me to wear it more comfortably than any other shorts. Pockets line up perfectly on my body. LOVE LOVE LOVE these shorts

Greate Bike Shorts

These are the most comfortable bike shorts I have ever had. I just bought a second pair. This second pair seems a little titer in the waste. Oh well, now I have another reason to ride more.

Nice shorts

The Black Market is a good basic short. I like the idea that they have a belt although it seems to sometimes get in the way if you leave in attached while riding. I bought these and a pair of the Ether Stretch. Both fit fine, the Black Market are a little looser though. My preference (and my wife's) are the Ether Stretch - they just fit me a little better.

Great for everyday, but run small

Just purchased two pairs of these...look great for wear everyday or commuting via bike. Obviously perfect for mountain bike with or without the liner.

Only thing I've noticed is they run small vs the Ether.

Black Market Shorts

I discovered Zoic on Bike To Work Day 2014. It was postponed due to the raging fires in San Diego County but was rescheduled, and I noticed that Zoic was on the Sponsor list. I was given a demo of the clothing at the Zoic Rider Support tent, and since I started riding mountain bikes about a year ago, decided to try the Black Market Shorts in Grey, with essential liner. Let me tell you, the comfort, support and padding is found nowhere else, and I have Mtn Biking shorts from 2 other manufacturers. The deep zippered pockets and key snap are really great to secure items on a hectic mtn bike ride. I'm looking at the new camo colored line of shorts for my next pair.

Great shorts

Got a pair of Zoic Black Market shorts this spring, and they are awesome! I'm a long-time roadie who's turning to the "dark side" and discovering the extreme fun of trail riding ~ this year I've hardly been on my road bike. I'm used to typical lycra road-wear, and was a little apprehensive about riding in looser style mountain bike shorts, but these are really great. Super light wt, don't catch or bind at all, I feel "Loose & Free" yet nicely contained. I ride with the inner liner, works great, and I use them without the liner for hiking, dining, hanging out. On a recent trip to Moab, I wore nothing but these the entire time ~ Perfect! Great shorts, thanks guys!

Awesome shorts

I started out with a black pair of market shorts a couple of years ago. The fabric is flexible and the shorts have held up great after riding, working out, and casual wear. I picked up a grey pair a year ago and now I am eyeing the khakis to round out my collection. Best riding shorts I have come across.

I have relied on Zoic shorts

I have relied on Zoic shorts since days of the Marquis. The Black Market is my latest Zoic purchase and these did not disappoint. The material is comfortable and stretches a little, so it gives with your movement. There are plenty of pockets and several with zippers, so there's no fear of items falling out of your pockets when you're rolling through rough terrain. An extra bonus is the detachable liner. This allows you to wear the shorts as regular shorts.

Awesome shorts

Overall, these shorts are very good. Primarily use them for riding my fixie. The number of pockets make it easy to carry my wallet, phone, tools. The sizings are accurate. The pad in the liner is a bit large for my preference, but they are well vented. The belted waist is a great asset compared to other shorts with drawstring/elastic waist. These shorts are a much better bargain than most on the market.

Black Market Shorts

I bought my first pair of Zoic Black Market Shorts a little over a month ago. I had heard good things about Zoic clothing and these shorts exceeded everything I was expecting. The quality material, the removable liner, the pockets, the zippers and the glasses cloth. A well thought out product. I liked them so much that I ordered the Black Market Convertible Quattro Pants last night for cold weather riding.

Awesome Cycle Shorts

I just bought my first pair of Zoic Black Market Shorts and I was blown away by the quality of them. All of the pockets, zippers and the sunglasses cloth sewn into the pocket. (Now that's attention to detail) It's so comfortable riding long distances now that I have these shorts.

Bought two pair earlier this year. Great fit, pleanty of room in the pockets and has a belt. Also, you get Zoic's great customer service.

I received my Black market

I received my Black market short and was impressed by the quality. The size was perfect, the fit was also very good. After a first bike ride: very satisfied.

market shorts

Very durable and cool. I like the liner provided. Easy to clean, and lots of pockets to store your belongings.

Comfortable short, great look

These are extremely comfortable and look great! The removable liner is an excellent feature as is the MP3 pocket with the cord pass through. I have owned a lot of different brands of mountain shorts but it's Zoic for me from here on out.
